Mobile App From the FBI
The first mobile app from the FBI is designed to aid in the ID of missing children. The FBI Child ID App is designed for iPhone and it has been available on iTunes since August 5. The free app lets parents archive electronic photos and important statistics on their kids, as well as to display this information on mobile devices quickly and concisely to police in the event of an emergency.
The app also makes it possible for this information to be emailed to authorities, and it includes a button to call 911 for emergency help. According o the FBI, the app will be most useful for quick response in emergency situations such as when a parent first realizes a child is missing and a search of the nearby area comes up empty. The app has gotten some good reviews, but other parents have expressed their discomfort with the lack of password protection given how much detailed personal information is stored on the app.
