The HTC Wildfire S is a CDMA mobile device which is at the FCC now and will most likely be available soon on one of Qualcomm's wireless technologies.

Some rumors about a roadmap have leaked which suggest that this device may be launched by US Cellular in October, but it could hit the stores of brands like Virgin Mobile, Cricket and MetroPCS sooner, and it may even be picked up by Verizon and Sprint. AT&T is first in line to sell the HTC Wildfire S, and T-Mobile is likely to get in on the act as well. The FCC filing is the first step towards the launch of the new phone, but it doesn't provide much information on the business plans of the various operators. The most likely scenario is that we see the Wildfire S released by many carriers this fall.

Getting the Best Deals on Mobile Phones

Getting the best deal on mobile phones can be quite a challenge given the huge variety of monthly mobile plans available today and the selection of over 1,000 handsets in the UK alone. The majority of these deals lock customers in for two years, so the wrong decision can end up being very costly over time and not so easy to reverse. There are an unbelievable number of deals available on cell phones today.

Specifically, it's estimated that there are over 1,500,000 deals available on 969 different handsets. This includes only monthly contracts, and not the thousands of pay as you go and SIM-only deals. It's no wonder that consumers often find themselves confused over which plan to select, and frequently end up wasting over 200 pounds a year locked into a contract that is not the best choice for their needs.

Mobile App From the FBI

The first mobile app from the FBI is designed to aid in the ID of missing children. The FBI Child ID App is designed for iPhone and it has been available on iTunes since August 5. The free app lets parents archive electronic photos and important statistics on their kids, as well as to display this information on mobile devices quickly and concisely to police in the event of an emergency.

The app also makes it possible for this information to be emailed to authorities, and it includes a button to call 911 for emergency help. According o the FBI, the app will be most useful for quick response in emergency situations such as when a parent first realizes a child is missing and a search of the nearby area comes up empty. The app has gotten some good reviews, but other parents have expressed their discomfort with the lack of password protection given how much detailed personal information is stored on the app.
